Sondrestrom AB, Greenland. This is another view of steelwork
being erected. The photo was taken in late July of 1959. After the heavy steel beam framework
was completed, the steel plating which forms the building proper was quickly
installed. By November 1, 1959,
the shell of the building was complete and left weather tight to ride out the
winter of 1959-60 uninhabited.
This spring, the interior was finished and the huge radome erected on
top. The building is now
occupied year round. Electronics
gear is still being installed. The
programmed date to place the unit in operation is classified information. Caption by Bill
