South Pole Station, Antarctica.   A view of the dining area at Pole Station.   This serves as the dining room, recreation area, and social gathering place.  A new recreation room is being constructed.  In this photo we see a man sorting mail, another repairing the movie projector (chief source of entertainment), Tillie "the South Pole Sweetheart," and the hi-fi set with record library.  Caption by Bill Nichols.  (Circa 1959)
