According to Bob Bramble, 17th TCS Crew Chief, during World War II the American Red Cross visited the various bases in a converted truck or van and offered coffee and doughnuts for sale. The Red Cross called this mobile snack bar a clubmobile. If this picture is to be believed, some permanent installations were called "Clubmobiles" too. Here Lt. Jennings Lynch has purchased his "dose of doughnuts" for the day. The site is Ciampino, Italy. (Photo courtesy of Mrs. William A. "Genevieve" Hitchcock)
