SECTION I - AWARDS OF AIR MEDAL

1. Under the provisions of AR 600-45, as amended,

and pursuant to authority contained in Circular No. 50, Headquarters NATOUSA, 5 April 1943, the Air Medal is awarded to the following named personnel. Air Corps, United States Army, residences as indicated, in the name of the Commanding General, North African Theatre of Operations, for meritorious achievement while participating in a night aerial flight as members of combat crews, in unarmed, unarmored, and unescorted Troop Carrier Aircraft, at an altitude of less than 500 feet, under adverse flying conditions, over enemy held territory while receiving hostile ground fire. The skill and courage, the devotion to duty, exemplified by each individual, contributed in a large degree to the successful dropping of paratroops over designated dropping zones, and established the value of a large Glider Force as a formidable weapon for future operations, and reflects great credit upon each individual, the NAAF Troop Carrier Command, and the United States Army Air Forces.
