Cape Lisburne Cape Lisburne is located in Northwest Alaska on the shore of the Chukchi Sea. As can be seen, the runway runs parallel to the shore and is very close to the ocean. Just prior to the Firebird's arrival in Alaska (1964), a military aircraft crashed at this same airport. |

Cape Romanzof More than one military aircraft has crashed at this site. Note the deep ditch at both ends of the gravel runway. |

Cape Newenham Another marginal site that the Firebirds visited on a regular basis. The slope and mountains at the far end made for an interesting aeronautical experience. |
