Resident, Clement James "Jim" Doherty fell asleep in the Lord on
February 26, 2012.
A funeral service in honor of Jim will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe
Parish, 3900 Wisconsin Street, Anchorage, AK on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11
a.m. Reception to follow at Jill and Kathy's 2422 Spindrift Circle,
Anchorage, AK. The internment will take place at Angelus Memorial Cemetery at
a later date.
Jim was born on June 23, 1936 in Richfield, Wisconsin to Hugh and Elizabeth
Doherty. Jim is a Vietnam War
Veteran who served in the U.S.
Air force. He went to many places during his time of service including
the Philippines, North Carolina, Kansas and retired after 24 years to
establish his home here in Alaska. Jim volunteered with Road to Recovery. Jim
enjoyed woodworking, fishing, getting together with family and friends,
barbeques, games in the backyard and playing cards in the winter.
The family states that, "Jim was a devoted son, brother, husband,
father, grandfather, uncle and friend."
Jim leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Catherine "Alice",
daughters, Vickie Doherty, Jill Doherty (special friend, Kathy Dawson) and
Julie (Brian) Putzel, all of Anchorage, AK.
Daughter Cori (Roger) Sweet of Eugene, OR and son Paul (Sherri) Doherty of Eastsound, WA.
He is also survived by his grandsons Mike and Chris Sweet, Patrick and Ryan
Doherty, David and Sean Putzel; granddaughter
Brianna Putzel; sisters Dolores Schlagenhaft,
Joyce Groff, Ruth Wagner and numerous nieces and nephews and endless friends
across the country.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Elizabeth Doherty and son
Patrick Doherty.
