Donald M. Thompson

 

DALZELL, S.C. -- Retired US. Air Force Lt. Col. Donald M. Thompson, age 71, beloved husband of 49 years to Doris Jean Norris Thompson, died Sunday; Feb. 11, 2007, at Lexington Medical Center.

 

Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 11, 1935, in Gastonia, N.C., the son of the late Otis Alexander and Imogene Robson Thompson. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force after 25 years of service and served during the Vietnam War. Mr. Thompson was a member of TROAA, MOM and the Retired Golf Association. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was an Eagle Scout, an avid golfer, and an outdoorsman.

 

Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters, Tammy Thompson Aguilar and her husband.  Mark, of Seattle, Washington, Terri Thompson Campbell and her husband, Bruce, of Reno, Nev., and Trade Thompson Frese and her husband, Chris, of Demorest, Ga.; four sisters, Sarah Stalls and her husband, Bill, Nancy Downing and her husband, Fred, Linda Dodgen and her husband, Tommy; and Rebeca Hunsinger and her husband, John; four grandchildren, Lucas Aguilar, Savanna Aguilar, Thomas Shuford, and Harrison Frese.He was preceded in death by his parents.  A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with Col Perry officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at Bullock Funeral Home.
