Antarctica.   Ice covered mountain range lying along route of flight to South Pole from McMurdo.  In the background is the ice cap, called the interior plateau in Antarctica.  The Beardmore Glacier is at the bottom of the picture.  This glacier is one of the largest glaciers in the world, having a length of more than 100 miles.  Photo taken from 25,000' altitude.  Caption by Bill Nichols.  (Circa 1960)
