The 517th Airlift Squadron (ALS) is the successor to the 17th Troop Carrier Squadron and 17th Tactical Airlift Squadron in Alaska. Members of the squadron are authorized to wear the scarf pictured above as part of their flight uniform. Imprinted on the scarf is Alaska, the C-12 aircraft, the Firebird emblem, and the Hercules C-130.
